The Farm Eatery is a place where you can enjoy the flavours of the countryside and the relaxing farm ambiance in an old stable, restored with care by the Louw family, where they’ve been making wine for six generations. Locally grown and regionally sourced produce inspire Chef Martin De Kock to blend his classical French training with the flavours of Provincial France, a touch of Spain, mixed with a hint of Asia. The herbs and some of the vegetables are from the kitchen garden, the preserves, and pickles home-made, and the bread freshly baked. This is a place where classical cuisine meets the gritty, honest heritage of South African wine country.
It is this balance of traditional roots and tantalising countryside cuisine mixed with homely farm vibes, and edgy cooking that inspired the branding and design for the Farm Eatery’s identity system, based on the concept of The Perfect Ratio. The story here, creating a balance between countryside heritage and contemporary cuisine, where structure meets organic elements, where tradition seeds fusion. What better way to symbolise balance and fusion than to merge the ancient Greek ideal of the Golden Section with an age-old heritage of a typical Cape wine farm.
